local gossip around limerick
Just time for a quick post with some news. There was another fatal accident out the county in Oola, when the driver of a jeep was killed when she hit a wall. Two people were arrested yesterday in relation to the damage that was caused when people dug up Thomond Park a few weeks ago.
The abandonment of the city centre by local shops continues with the news that Finuncanes have gone from their location on Thomas St out to the Eastway indudtrial estate. At least they are still in business, Newsoms, on William St have announced that they are going to be closing in the next few weeks. Mary's of william st also closed recently. Meteor are going to be opening a new shop at the junction of O 'Connell St and William St shortly where Carl Scarpa used to be. Mcs computers on O'Connell St seems to have bellu p recently and is to be repaced by a "Juice zone" shop - more healthy smoothies to be consumed by people no doubt who want to be skinny. Just across the road, Bentley barkers has opened up on O 'Connell St beside the old Teds- how it will do remains to be seen as i doubt that there is much demand for another pub in the city centre at the minute?- but then again i am open to be being proved wrong!
